"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." 1 John 1.7
Greg Majercin’s Father died when he was 2. He heard stories of him, but never knew him.
“Mom raised me in Catholic Church for 18 years and I learned of God and found comfort in him being my Heavenly Father…”
A hard working paramedic Greg knew how to be the first response to physical crisis, but as he grew in his faith he desired to become a first responder to those in spiritual crisis.
When his wife of 16 years died of cancer, he was left to raise his 11-year-old daughter Kyra and his 9 year old son Zach.
“I knew I needed to provide for them, to work… I never wanted my children to think of me as a dead beat Dad”.
As Greg processed his loss, He felt his heart hardening. In an effort to numb his pain he began drinking and womanizing.
God never gave up in His pursuit of him.Through his rebellious seasons, people all along the way became extensions of His grace and mercy in Greg’s life, sometimes in the most unexpected places. Eventually Greg returned to the Lord. Spurred on by others, he joined Men of the Rock and studied faithfully to show himself approved to present the Gospel to others. He joined Never Knew a Fathers Love Ministry as a Youth Mentorship Leader at the Rock and his hunger and thirst for more of God grew. Then Greg met Jenn.
“Jenn (a Rock Ambassador, now serving Jesus on a 2 1/2 yr stint in Africa] spotted me in a crowd at Toys for Joy, [Rock Church’s Christmas Outreach to the local community]…she just zeroed in on me, asked me a few questions, then challenged me to go even deeper in the Word; it really resonated with me… pretty soon IMPACT195 people started popping up in my life like daisies..."
Working full time, while fathering his now two teenagers, the thought of attending a year-long discipleship program didn’t make sense. But God continued to impress upon his heart he was to come.
“I couldn’t imagine quitting my job, so God took care of that for me… I got word that in April I was being laid off…”
One of his last nights on the job, on assignment in Texas, he shared his heart with a fellow believer and his hesitancy in committing to a year long program like IMPACT195.
“Every excuse I put out on the table, she had the perfect answer to…”
And the first week of IMPACT195 Greg knew why he was there.
“God wanted me to take the head knowledge I had gained and make it real in my heart.”
Some of Greg’s most intense encounters with Jesus in the program have come on 12:2 trips, in times of confession.
“I remember feeling so much love and acceptance- where the world would have judged me…. As I have been obedient to confess my sins, others confess their sins and Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us… at times God asks me to be the first one step out and do it & I obey…now I have learned what it is to walk in the light as He is in the light, and that fellowship He promised is real.”
Half way thru the program, Greg doesn’t know what the future holds, but the first time in his life he is okay with it.
“I trust God, I know I am right where I am supposed to be…”
