Gary George

"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!" 1 John 3.

Earlier in July, Gary George (IMPACT195 alumni & mentor) and the term one class went down to Horton Plaza for their Friday outreach. Gary met Larry. He and a few others had seen, rather heard him, earlier. He had been yelling while standing in the middle of the street.

Gary felt compelled to go to him and share about the extravagant love of Christ.

"As soon as I looked into his eyes, he started weeping."

Gary started speaking truth into his life and over his life. He explained to Larry that he didn't need to fear man, that he had a Father in Heaven who greatly loved him. Gary explained the cross and the Holy Spirit. Larry told Gary that he wanted to be saved. There on4th and E Street– Larry prayed to receive Christ.

After the prayer, Gary noticed the giant bag that Larry was carrying.

"Larry said to me that his bag was making him heavy on his feet…"

Gary lifted the bag and took it off his back. Larry, slowly fell to the ground crying and Gary put his arms around him.

"Mucas was just pouring from his nose…how could I not wipe it away…?"

Gary knew that even though his physical arms were around this broken man, that indeed it was Christ who was holding him. It was Christ who was lifting the heavy burdens from his life. It was Christ that was wiping away the filthy things and making him clean.

"I was so encouraged by the amazing power of God… He is able to save to the uttermost! And this man was bound up by Christ and for eternity forever before my very eyes…"

This September Gary and a team of 12 someImpact 195 world changers will be moving to Haiti for six months in order to bring more of this Pervasive Hope to the lost, the hurting & the rejected in the town of Jeremie.
